Matt graduated from Drama Studio London in 2014, and has performed in California, Chicago, Japan, across Europe and the UK in roles including Romeo, Dionysius and the title role in DON CARLOS.

Matt is an artistic director of both the Reversed Shakespeare Company and Pint-Sized, an evening of new writing at Jermyn Street Theatre; he is a member of the award-winning ONEOHONE and Factory Theatre companies. His writing has been performed at The Criterion, Jermyn Street and New Diorama theatres, and his directing work has been selected for Mervyn Stutter’s PICK OF THE FRINGE. He’s absolutely delighted to be a HandleBard.

And his favourite Shakespeare quote?

“Oh God that I were a man. I would eat his heart in the marketplace.”

My Favourite Thing About The HandleBards:

The sense of adventure in everything the company does – both on and off the stage. Whether setting ourselves on the British countryside with nothing but a bike, or tackling Richard III with only four actors – it’s all about childish bravery and fun.

If Shakespeare Was Alive Today:

I would ask him whether he minds breaking up the rhythm of a line for a cheap gag. But I might phrase it differently.

The Biggest Adventure I've Ever Had:

Four months in South-East Asia – riding mopeds up mountains, hiking over 1000-year old ruins in Cambodia, cliff-jumping in Thailand, and finding gin and local beer wherever it could be found. Also life. The greatest adventure is life. Let’s say that.
